Farrell Kia attracts customers from a number of surrounding cities and communities seeking new and used cars, but many of our customers are from right here in Spartanburg, SC, the fourth-largest city (by urban population) in the Palmetto State.
With a population of more than 37,000 people, Spartanburg is the largest city in, and the county seat of, Spartanburg County. With an urban population of more than 145,000, it is the second-biggest city in the Upstate region after Greenville. The name Spartanburg is widely believed to have been influenced by the Spartan regiment of the South Carolina Militia. The city's humble beginnings date back to the 1780s, when it was a courthouse village, and it was incorporated in 1831 on the 50th anniversary of the American Revolution skirmish known as the Battle of Cowpens. Spartanburg was well-known for its cotton mills, like the Glendale Mill, Beaumont Mill and Converse Mill, for many decades, garnering it the title "Lowell of the South." |
